R-410A Refrigerant vs. R-22

Some Deluxe air conditioners operate on R-410A refrigerant rather than R-22. R-410A is an ozone-safe refrigerant designed to replace R-22, the refrigerant flowing through most of today’s air conditioners. The EPA has mandated that by 2010 all new air conditioners must use R-410A, and that by 2020 R-22 will no longer be produced. Based upon the amount of time you plan to be in your present home, it may make sense for you to install an R-410A based system now and avoid the scarcity and high prices of R-22 down the road.
